The team
Meet the people behind the workshop
A small, specialised team—founders, tutors, and mentors—focused on practical skills and a great workshop experience.
Luca discovered woodworking at a young age and has been making ever since. After moving to Dubai in 2013, it became harder to keep building regularly—until the pandemic reignited his focus. During COVID, he set out to create a maker community centered on education, with a clear mission: spread the love of woodworking across the UAE and the wider GCC.
Eva joined Luca’s journey and, through learning woodworking after COVID, found her own calling. Today she leads the Kids Academy, designing hands-on learning that builds confidence, creativity, and real skills. Teaching the next generation of makers is her dream role—and she brings warmth and structure to every session.
Born and raised in South Africa, Clinton comes from a family where working with wood was already a way of life. He is a skilled maker and a thoughtful tutor who leads the Modular Woodworking Course. Clinton is especially passionate about hand tools—a focus he developed deeply since joining The Makers Society.
With over 30 years of experience, Olympio is a master of the craft with deep practical knowledge. After working in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, he joined The Makers Society in 2024. He teaches machine joinery across the Modular program and short courses, bringing calm precision and strong workshop discipline to every class.
Joel has been part of The Makers Society from the early days and has played a key role in shaping the workshop experience. He is now one of our most trusted tutors and a favourite among members of all ages. Known for his patient, steady teaching style, Joel helps students feel confident while improving quickly.
Shamikh Raheem
Shamikh joined in 2025 and has become central to how the business runs day to day. He manages customer relationships, coordination, and the operational admin that keeps everything moving smoothly. From first inquiry to ongoing support, Shamikh helps ensure every customer experience feels clear and well-organised.
Nazrana began as a TMS student in 2024 and quickly stood out for her dedication and curiosity. Within a few months she started collaborating with the team and is now a tutor who co-leads the Kids Academy alongside Eva. You’ll often meet her during trial classes, where she welcomes new visitors and makes them feel at ease.
Davood Esmaeilpoor
Davood is passionate about anything made from wood and brings specialist skill in woodturning. He is a familiar presence at The Makers Society, teaching both beginner and advanced turning courses. Davood also supports bespoke fine furniture projects, combining craft precision with a genuine love for the material.
